Dramatic video footage shows the rear of a terraced house engulfed in flames following a suspected explosion in Haringey earlier today (Wednesday).
A man suffered serious burns and a police officer was injured following the blast which is believed to have coincided with the arrival of police officers who had gone to assist bailiffs who were attending the address in Stapleton Hall Road, Stroud Green.
The incident happened at midday. occupants of the property were safely evacuated.
Other residents of adjoining properties were also evacuated as a safety precaution.
The blaze ripped through a basement flat, damaged part of the ground floor and spread to a garden shed.
A police spokesman said:"At this early stage, police are aware of two people injured. One man has sustained serious burns, and a police officer sustained an arm injury. We await further details."
Ten pumps attended with fire crews from Hornsey, Stoke Newington, Kentish Town, Holloway and other surrounding stations.
The cause of fire is unknown. No arrests have been made.
